I study the effects of fishing and protection on mobile species, including the effectiveness of large marine protected areas for shark conservation and the impacts of commercial fishing on pelagic fish. My field work is focused on reef shark and coconut crab movements at Palmyra Atoll, small-scale shark fisheries in Kiribati, and white sharks in central California. Before coming to Stanford, I worked as a fisheries observer aboard Bering Sea crab vessels and a research diver for the National Park Service.

Our study on the effectiveness of large MPAs for reef sharks can be found here, and a Nat Geo article about our coconut crab project is located here.
